Old Trail Town in Cody, Wyoming
Before leaving Cody, I made a stop at the Old Trail Town, a collection of historic buildings from
the frontier era. There are more than 25 buildings, the oldest from 1879, as well as about a
hundred old wagons and buggies and other memorabilia. There's an 1883 cabin used as a hideout by
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. And there's a frontier cemetery where several famous
mountaineers and gunfighters are laid to rest. I got there as soon as they opened so I had the place
almost to myself and the weather that early in the morning was fabulous.
After taking my time photographing and videotaping Old Trail Town, I regretfully departed Cody, Wyoming with the promise to myself that I'll someday come back to this great little town.
Wildlife in Yellowstone
Arriving at the park, I pay the $20 admission fee and am given a map as well as some pamphlets.
One of them (first image) warns me of the danger of wildlife. I'm thinking of this pamphlet later
when I'm stopped along the road photographing the bear and her two cubs. After she got pretty close,
I got inside my car but on both sides of my cars were people holding either their camcorders or
their kids to get a closer look. Lucky for them a ranger eventually came by and shooed us all away.
