The Swetsville Zoo in Timnath, Colorado
I would've enjoyed this place a lot more if it hadn't been for 1) the ten million black flies swarming the place and 2) it was HELLA HOT! Within five minutes of stepping out of my car I could feel the sweat running down my back. The flies were mostly there cos this place is out in the country and county equals farm animals equals flies so I can't blame them on that. But Lord the heat! OK, enough about the zoo being located five miles south of hell, these metal sculptures are amazing! And huge too! It's one thing to be artistic enough to make some little sculpture out of metal parts, but some of these are like 20 feet tall. Totally cool.

There are a few outbuildings which house the odd muppet-like creatures, but if you can imagine how hot a shed gets in this heat, that's what it was like in these buildings. So we quickly made our way through them. There is a gift-shop of sorts, but there's not much for the kids. Mostly there are some of those muppet-like creatures for sale but they're wayyy overpriced and an artist has some of her work on dispay for sale, but it's pretty amateurish for the prices she's demanding. There is no admission fee, but donations are appreciated. Figuring I got $6.00 worth of entertainment, I squished that amount into the slot and got back in to the heavenly air conditioned car.
