I know I don't need all this stuff, but since I'll be living out of the car for the next three weeks and since none of the places I'm staying overnight require me to hike there (leaving the car behind), I may as well load up with every conceivable thing I might possibly need.

  • paper supplies (envelopes, stamps, postcard stamps, pens, paper, notebook, tape, stapler, post-its)
  • dental and medical insurance cards
  • phone cards & list of phone numbers, email adresses of everyone
  • camera supplies (digital camera & smart media disks, camcorder & blank 8mm tapes, Polaroid camera & film)
  • towels (beach towel, bath towels & grungy towels for spills, the car, etc.)
  • beauty stuff (makeup, chapstick, curling iron, hairspray, hairbrush, comb, hair gel, tweezers, nail clippers, etc.)
  • jewelry (earrings, watch, rings)
  • several rolls of quarters (laundromat, car vaccuum, phone, pay showers, toll bridges/highways, etc.)
  • laundromat items (detergent, fabric softeners, laundry bag)
  • medicine cabinet (first aid kit, bug spray, cough syrup, aspirin, vitamins, sunscreen, unscented baby wipes, sewing kit, small scissors, safety pins, etc.)
  • bed stuff: (pillow, sheet set, blankets, alarm clock)
  • bath stuff (shampoo, conditioner, soap, razor & blades, shaving cream, deodorant, mouthwash, few rubber bands, flip flops, bucket for carrying stuff to showers, hand mirror, q-tips, couple rolls of toilet paper, box of kleenex, ziploc baggie to hold wet bar of soap, hand lotion, hair dryer, toothpaste, toothbrush, etc.)

    8) Give Elaine code word and schedule for telephone check-ins

    9)Set up an extra litter box for Carson


    10) Several bowls of food and water for Carson

    11) Leave tub faucet running a bit

    12) Double check batteries in smoke alarm
